The Port Richmond commercial corridor, once known as the “Fifth Avenue of Staten Island”, is destined for a renaissance.

 

Port Richmond Avenue represents untapped potential. Within just a 3-mile radius there are more than 233,000 residents in 82,000 households. In total, these consumers spend more than $2.3 billion dollars a year for retail goods, services, and dining. Port Richmond Avenue is poised for significant growth over the next several years. In addition to an already large customer base, the 3-mile trade area is growing by more than 250 new households every year. That means consumer spending in the trade area increases by another $12.2 million a year.

 

Through Northfield LDC, commercial corridor retailers are supported by a well-established merchant association and a local area small business loan fund. Right now, Northfield LDC is recruiting new retailers and restaurants to the corridor and launching initiatives that will create more parking, create cooperative marketing programs and attract even more consumers to the area.
